What you receive

A translation built to be checked

Your translation is compared line by line with your passport and other documents, so it has to be complete and exact.

  • The whole report translated, including diagnoses, results, medication and the doctor's notes.
  • Medical terms rendered precisely, with names, dates and figures exactly as written.
  • The translator's NAATI stamp and certification statement, showing who translated it and their NAATI credential.
  • Our letterhead with our address and telephone number, so the translation can be traced back to us.

Before you order

When a medical report needs translating

The most common reasons are a visa health examination, ongoing treatment in Australia and vaccination records.

gavel

Visa health examinations

Home Affairs' medical form asks you to bring any existing specialist reports for a known medical condition, and its instructions to panel doctors say reports in a language other than English must be translated into English. Under Home Affairs' general rule, translations made in Australia should be by a NAATI accredited translator.

Visa medicals

Bring your specialist reports

If you have a known condition, Home Affairs asks you to bring existing specialist reports to your health examination. Reports not in English must be translated.

Immunisation

Records in English

To add overseas immunisations to the Australian Immunisation Register, Services Australia asks for documents in English that show what immunisations you have had, such as your Impfpass.

Free service?

Check if you are eligible

The government's Free Translating Service translates some documents for eligible people settling permanently in Australia, including medical records when ongoing treatment is needed here. It does not cover documents for visa or citizenship applications.

What Home Affairs asks of a translation

From the Department of Home Affairs' guidance on documents in languages other than English:

  • Provide the original document together with the English translation.
  • In Australia, use a translator accredited by NAATI.
  • Include the translator's full name, address and telephone number, and qualifications and experience in the language, all in English.

Our certified translations carry the translator's NAATI stamp and certification statement, on our letterhead with our address and telephone number.

What to send us
  • The official report as a PDF, or a clear colour scan where every line is readable.
  • Every page in one file, including the apostille if there is one.
  • Any spelling your names must match on your passport, written in the comments box.
  • Every page of the report, including results tables and the doctor's signature block.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you translate handwritten medical notes?

Yes, where the handwriting is legible. Anything we cannot read with certainty is marked as illegible rather than guessed.

Is there a free alternative?

Possibly. The Free Translating Service (TIS National) translates some documents for eligible people settling permanently in Australia, within two years of their visa grant, including medical records when ongoing treatment is needed here. It does not cover documents needed for visa or citizenship applications.

How is the price worked out?

How long does the translation take?

Most single reports take 24 to 48 hours. An urgent option is available when you order.
